The Okatoma Creek some times large enough to be called a river, begins at the upper boundary of Covington County and joins the Bouie River in Forrest County. The Okatoma has been described by the U.S. Department of Interior as "a gently flowing pristine stream with sandbars, waterfalls, shoals, bluffs and high banks covered with maple, birch and magnolias; creating a canopy effect; a variety of flora, wild life and riverine species." The Okatoma is the only "white water" in Mississippi and offers some of the best canoeing anywhere as it flows freely through forests and farms. Pets allowed (must be leashed, cleaned up after, and no vicious breeds allowed). *Rates are for two people, $5.00 for each additional person over 12 years old. $2.00 addtional for 50-amp service.
